Centum Learning, with its extensive experience in training & development and it’s technology enabled 360 degree solutions’ is well placed to partner in the process of leveraging the demographic dividend in Africa.
Centum’s skilling approach in Africa is driven by its expertise of addressing similar challenges in India in both corporate and government skilling space - with central ministries as well as state departments. Centum has a network of over 170 Learning & Development specialists based in Africa delivering training solutions in English, French and other regional languages. Centum has been actively partnering with funding organizations and other agencies in Africa to deliver skilling solutions across multiple sectors.
Since its inception in 2006, Centum has diversified its portfolio and is working with various stakeholders implementing skilling solutions across multiple sectors. Some of the key initiatives undertaken by Centum are:
Google Digital Training initiative was targeted at Africans youth in the age group of 18 – 35 years and the objective was to help them develop entrepreneurial skills through training on tools to be used for building online presence, content creation, web design, social media and app development. To accomplish the same, Google partnered with Centum Learning as the implementation partner. Under this initiative, Centum has skilled over 600,000 youth in 23 African countries till November 2017.
McKinsey Social Initiative (MSI) is aimed at improving employability of youth in the age group of 20-30 years. For implementation of its ‘Generation Kenya’ project, MSI partnered with Centum to conduct sourcing, interviewing, shortlisting, training and then placement of 5,000 suitable candidates from under-privileged backgrounds on Financial Services Sales (FSS) & Sewing Machine Operator (SMO).
Centum Learning partnered with Farm Inputs Promotion (FIPS) Africa to develop an effective extension approach to assist resource-poor rural small-holder farmers in achieving food and nutrition security. The Project was funded by United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA). Through this project, FIPS and Centum have successfully developed a scalable private sector-led extension mechanism to ensure food security in Tanzania.
Focusing on better retail experience and to encourage creation of deeper engagements, Centum conducted two skilling programmes on customer focus in Uganda and Nairobi, Kenya.
Centum Learning conducted a skilling course on stress management for Comviva in Nairobi. The intensive workshop was focused on skilling participant on managing stress and emotions.
Aimed at enhancing customer experience, National Bank of Kenya Limited (NBK) entrusted Centum Learning with the responsibility of providing skilling solutions to its employees placed at its call centres. Centum devised an innovative methodology to cater to the needs of NBK and trained front line executives.
